KOBALT

“In the American city of Montana, thousands of snow geese perished after they had been forced by a snowstorm to land in toxic water full of heavy metals. The lake, unknown to the geese, was a flooded coppermine. Eyewitnesses say that the mine looked like 283 hectares of white birds.”

Filmmaker Constanze Wouters registered the making of PLUIMGEWICHT and DWAALGAST during the period of the entire project. KOBALT is a perception of silence in a stone quarry. She investigates how sound, without the presence of a score or composer, can become music. The sound of gravel, an inhalation, an airplane and footsteps are transformed to instruments in an orchestra. The film screening of KOBALT premiered in December 2017 at het Bos in Antwerp.
